GFI Participates in Joint Tree-Planting Initiative with the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government for Indonesia Tree-Planting Day and National Tree-Planting Month 2025

Palangka Raya, [3/12] – The Good Forest Indonesia Foundation (GFI) participated in a Joint Tree-Planting Event organized by the Provincial Government of Central Kalimantan in celebration of Indonesia Tree-Planting Day and National Tree-Planting Month 2025. The event took place at SMK Negeri 5 Palangka Raya.

The activity was attended by representatives of the Governor of Central Kalimantan, including Herson B. Aden, Assistant for Economic and Development Affairs of the Central Kalimantan Secretariat. In his remarks, Herson B. Aden conveyed the Governor’s message that the tree-planting effort was being carried out simultaneously across all districts and cities in Central Kalimantan as a shared commitment to strengthen regional greening initiatives.

Assistant for Economic and Development Affairs of the Central Kalimantan Secretariat, Herson B. Aden, together with the Head of the Central Kalimantan Provincial Forestry Agency, Agustan Saining, planted trees at SMK Negeri 5 Palangka Raya.

My message to all development partners is this: let us work together to green the earth and preserve our environment. Conservation is part of our duty and devotion,” said Agustan Saining, Head of the Central Kalimantan Provincial Forestry Agency.

The tree-planting event serves as both a hope and a reminder of our collective responsibility to deliver tangible environmental benefits for Central Kalimantan. It is also expected to inspire greater environmental awareness among younger generations in the years ahead.

In October 2025, GFI and the Central Kalimantan Provincial Forestry Agency formally signed a Cooperation Agreement to implement Forest and Land Rehabilitation (RHL) programs in the province. This collaboration marks an important step for both parties in strengthening joint efforts to green and rehabilitate areas beyond forest areas, while involving local communities as key partners in environmental stewardship and improving local livelihoods.
